Kindergarten

1) NATURE WALK: EXPLORE THE FOREST COMMUNITY

Interactions  Between Living Things and Their Environment:

K.2.2 Realize that organisms use their senses to interact with their environment.

o        Recognize that humans have five senses and be able to discriminate among these.

Diversity and Adaptation Among  Living Things:

K.5.2 Recognize that living things have features that help them to survive in different environments.

o        Know that different organisms tend to be found in different environments.

Earth and Space Science

Earth and Its Place in the Universe:

K.7.1 Recognize that different objects appear in the day and nighttime sky.

o        Identify objects that appear in the day and nighttime sky.

K.7.2 Recognize that there are predictable patterns that occur in the universe.

Atmospheric Cycles:

K.8.1 Recognize daily and seasonal weather changes.

o        Identify daily weather conditions (e.g., hot, cool, sunny, snowy, and rainy).

K.8.2 Realize that weather is associated with temperature, precipitation, and wind conditions and can be measured using tools and instruments.

o        Associate clothing and activity choices with various types of weather.

Earth Resources:

K.10.1 Recognize that there are a variety of earth materials which have basic observable and measurable properties.

o        Recognize a variety of earth materials (e.g., rocks, pebbles, sand).

K.14.1 Realize that the sun is the main source of earth's heat and light energy.

o        Identify the sun as the source of earth's heat and light energy.

K.14.2 Recognize that sound is produced when objects vibrate.

o        Identify different sounds and their sources.

2) WILDLIFE CLASS: TOUCH PELTS, SKULLS, ANIMAL TRACKS, LIVE SPECIMENS.

3) STREAM STUDY:  INVESTIGATE THE LIFE IN A STREAM

Interactions Between Living Things and Their Environment:

K.2.2 Realize that organisms use their senses to interact with their environment.

o        Recognize that humans have five senses and be able to discriminate among these.

Diversity and Adaptation Among Living Things:

K.5.2 Recognize that living things have features that help them to survive in different environments.

o        Know that different organisms tend to be found in different environments.

Energy:

K.14.1 Realize that the sun is the main source of earth's heat and light energy.

o        Identify the sun as the source of earth's heat and light energy.

4) TURTLE CLASS: LIVE SPECIMENS: RECYCLING - CREATE A TURTLE FROM A TWO-LITER DRINK BOTTLE.

K.10.2 Realize that earth materials can be recycled or conserved.

o        Classify objects as natural or manmade.

5) LOW ROPES INITIATIVE COURSE:  BUILD SELF CONFIDENCE AND DEVELOP TEAMWORK

Physical Science

Forces and Motion:

K.11.1 Realize the basic concept that forces can move objects (push/pull).

o        Recognize that objects can move in different directions and at different speeds.

6) TEAM BUILDING GAMES: INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS.
